FAQs

Got a question? Eugene has the answer.

How long does it take to get my results once I have posted my swabs to you?

Approximately 2 weeks.

Does it hurt when taking the mouth swab?
Not at all, you won't feel any pain or discomfort. Watch a demonstration of the DNA collection technique here.
I don’t understand DNA, genes and genotypes at all – will the process and results confuse me?

No, you needn’t be a scientist to use or understand this test. Eugene makes the process easy by providing simple instructions and clear explanations. If you still find you have questions, you can call to speak with one of Eugene's friendly Clinical Advisors at 0800 032 5945.

Have these guidelines been tested and are they really effective?

Yes. Over 100 studies were evaluated in which genetic variation, diet or exercise, and weight management associations were included. In addition, clinical studies have shown that people can lose more weight with a diet that is matched to their genotype, versus a diet that is "wrong" for their genetics.

Will Eugene suggest specific types of diet and exercise to help me lose weight?

Yes. You will learn the percentage of carbs, fat and protein to include for your set daily target calories. You'll also discover whether you are suited to low intensity exercise (e.g. walking, golf or leisurely bike rides) or to higher intensity exercise (e.g. running, rowing or tennis). Eugene will advise you on the amount of time to spend on each type of exercise. Bottom line: your test results can help you make the right choices for your body when reducing calories and choosing exercise.

I think I already know the best type of diet and exercise for me to lose weight. How will Eugene benefit me?

Eugene will either confirm your hunch or inform you of a more effective regime. Either result is beneficial to you moving forward to achieve your weight loss goals.

What doesn’t the test tell me?

Eugene does not test for food intolerances or allergies.
